Zeal.
Passion. Hunger. Drive. Ambition.
You name it, your generation has it.
Don’t buy the lie that the media (and maybe some people in your life) want you to believe. That this generation is lazy, unmotived, and can’t figure things out.
We don’t believe that here. And you shouldn’t either.
Here, we believe that your generation is hungrier and more altruistic than any generation before it. We believe the possibility for change, revival, and truth is greater than ever before. We aren’t playing the blame game or excusing away incredible opportunities. We stand in a tension that we believe can be solved by the wisest, kindest, safest, and boldest man to ever live… Jesus.
Here’s the tension:
Yes, your generation is anxious, lonely, and depressed.
But, the real issue here is that you don’t know where to go or who to trust.
And there are so. many. competing. Voices.
So… welcome to ZealHouse.
We are a library of content, tools, resources, voices, and more and our aim is simply to take that passion, hunger, and drive that you already have, and simply direct it towards your one true home, which can be found in Jesus. And our mission is simple,
“Until every student knows Jesus”
Which means until we hit that point, you can find us here, providing new, relevant, and always growing resources for you as you follow Jesus in the world that we live in, all while in the safety of home. Here you can bring your biggest questions, deepest issues, and scariest doubts and wrestle with them openly and honestly alongside a community of like minded followers of Jesus looking to change the world.
So, why the name? Have you ever heard the story of Jesus flipping over tables and kicking out people in the Temple? It’s a good one. Check out John 2 if you don’t know this one. But after Jesus drives everyone out and declares that they are misusing and corrupting what God’s Temple (and name) was supposed to stand for, it says this…
17 His disciples remembered that it is written: “Zeal for your house will consume me.”
John 2:17
Woah. Now, our anger surely isn’t as pure or righteous as Jesus’ was. But I think this is a pretty good picture of how your generation feels about God’s name in our world right now. After political misuse, yet another church scandal, and every rapper thanking God in their speeches about sex, drugs, and beefing with other people, doesn't something feel off? It’s time for us to be zealous for God’s name and allow for the truth of His Word to consume our hearts and direct our paths. There is a way to lead with love, stand on truth, and be a light in darkness. Paul says this in Galatians:
It is fine to be zealous, provided the purpose is good, and to be so always, not just when I am with you.
Galatians 4:18
So read on. Let us partner with you as your learn to become like Jesus in every area of life. Welcome home!
